Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems: An Operation and Maintenance Service Provider Program

View Resource

The Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems: An Operation and Maintenance Service Provider Program manual and training materials were developed in partnership with National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) with funding from the EPA 23-26 Treatment Works Priority Area 2 grant.

The goal of this training course and manual is workforce development related to system management including the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of decentralized systems. The course describes fundamental concepts of wastewater characteristics and treatment processes and illustrates the importance of periodic operation and maintenance to ensure longevity and optimal performance. The course aims to establish uniform standards of practice that service providers can employ to assess and report upon the status of system source, collection, treatment and dispersal components as part of system management.

The Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems manual serves as additional material for learning and as a resource for decentralized service providers.

In addition to this manual, there are a multitutde of associated resources you can access here to further your learning.
