RCAP Webinar | Rain Harvesting in Paradise: Opportunity or Challenge?
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of rainwater harvesting, water supply, and water resources in the Virgin Islands, as well as establish how these rain harvesting systems are perhaps the equivalent of a private well in the United States. Moreover, it will explain how the cultural factors of each island (St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John), socioeconomic and geographic factors, and the condition of these islands, affect the possibility of having access to safe drinking water.
In addition, we will summarize the government’s impact, as it is formed, in the implementation of the rules and regulations, and the challenges present in the territories to ensure public health and a better life quality for the population. Lastly, there will be a review of the constraints that technical assistance providers faced while trying to effectively address the above-mentioned facts with limited resources, in collaboration with local and federal regulators, and community representatives. This webinar is made possible by support from our EPA NPA1 grant.
Our speaker is Carmen Yolanda Montañez Velázquez, RCAP Solutions.
