RCAP Webinar | Lessons from the Field: Water Audits for Small Systems – Expert Observations from Pennsylvania
Small water utility personnel face challenges on a historic level, ranging from drought and flooding impacting stressed and aging infrastructure to leadership voids in rural communities and the logistics of competing for infrastructure funding amidst labor shortages and rising costs. In this context, there are a few proactive steps a small system can take to make the most of its assets and promote resiliency. One step is to reduce water loss and improve water efficiency. To answer the question, “Why should a small water system, with limited resources, conduct a water audit – and once they decide to, how do they do it?” We will provide a basic overview of the process and the overall benefits of tracking water loss, introduce a water audit pilot program in the Pennsylvania DEP Outreach Assistance Provider Program, and discuss the material that utilities and technical assistance providers should have at hand to conduct an audit. Lastly, we will highlight how RCAP is working with partners to expand its water loss program and provide more training opportunities. Come join us for an informative hour-long session and be prepared to ask your questions as we investigate a timely topic!
