Malini Sekhar, Director of Storytelling is based in Alexandria, VA and joined RCAP in 2021. She has more than 13 years of experience supporting people and organizations in identifying and unleashing their superpowers through - communication strategy, storytelling, facilitation, and meaningful engagement. In her current role, Malini oversees RCAP's communication strategy, external outreach and storytelling activities.
Malini's journey thus far has included work in a variety of sectors and roles depending on the project and have ranged from work in civic technology (civic tech) to social entrepreneurship to bringing innovation to federal government to better serve the public. She has worked with organizations like: Ashoka, the Inter-American Development Bank, New America and the Meals On Wheels Association of America.
By way of education and training, Malini holds a B.A. in Political Science from Wellesley College and an M.A. in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She has training in facilitation and human centered design and design thinking (they are a little different) and tries to integrate these and other helpful methods that empower creative thinking, deepen understanding and solve problems. Malini has also received training and practices as a Reiki Master and meditation guide. In the time that remains, Malini enjoys playing tennis, writing, being in nature, laughing and learning with her son and being a more self-aware human.
