Plain ol' water regains top spot for Americans' drink preference

The Associated Press reported recently that water has become the top drink for Americans.

The average American consumes 44 gallons of soda a year. Soda used to be the top choice of beverage for Americans. Soda consumption peaked in 1998 at 54 gallons a year.

Now Americans are drinking an average of 58 gallons of water a year.
