NY Times: Safe Storage of Water? Go Underground

The New York Times published an article on May 1 that talks about storing water underground as a modern (but also old) solution to water shortages and the advantages and disadvantages of this.

"[E]xperts are urging cities to build reservoirs below the ground, where the water cannot evaporate and many of the difficulties associated with above-ground water storage are avoided," the article reads.

Plain ol' water regains top spot for Americans' drink preference

The Associated Press reported recently that water has become the top drink for Americans.

The average American consumes 44 gallons of soda a year. Soda used to be the top choice of beverage for Americans. Soda consumption peaked in 1998 at 54 gallons a year.

Now Americans are drinking an average of 58 gallons of water a year.
