Ohio RCAP receives award

The village of Russells Point and Ohio RCAP were honored at the Ohio Conference of Community Development, Inc.’s summer meeting for their water treatment plant upgrade project, which involved installing granular activated carbon (GAC) to the existing treatment plant to reduce total organic carbon in treated water. The village was under findings and orders from the Ohio EPA to correct MCL violations for trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids. The deficiencies relate to the disinfection by-products rule in the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Jackson County (Ohio) Water Company receives award from Ohio RCAP

The Jackson County Water Company in Ohio was among the several entities and individuals that received awards from Ohio RCAP at its recent "Small Towns, Big Futures" conference, held in Columbus Aug. 24-25.

The water company received the "Carpe Diem" Excellence Award. RCAP gives this award to spotlight companies that "seize every opportunity to improve and expand their services and meet the needs of residents."

EPA Administrator marks one-year anniversary of Recovery Act in Ohio, acknowledges RCAP

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson joined Ohio First Lady Frances Strickland and Ohio officials at a press conference Feb. 18 in Columbus to mark the one-year anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
 
Jackson announced that the recovery act had saved or created 79,000 jobs in Ohio and would provide 4.5 million Ohio working families with a tax cut. Ohio is also among the leaders nationally in the number of recovery act-funded water pollution control and safe drinking water projects.
