Ohio RCAP receives award

The village of Russells Point and Ohio RCAP were honored at the Ohio Conference of Community Development, Inc.’s summer meeting for their water treatment plant upgrade project, which involved installing granular activated carbon (GAC) to the existing treatment plant to reduce total organic carbon in treated water. The village was under findings and orders from the Ohio EPA to correct MCL violations for trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids. The deficiencies relate to the disinfection by-products rule in the Safe Drinking Water Act.

National leaders call for renewed federal commitment to rural development as part of 2012 Farm Bill

WASHINGTON, DC — The Campaign for a Renewed Rural Development called on Congress Sept. 22 to include a strong and comprehensive Rural Development Title in the 2012 Farm Bill to create jobs and promote economic growth in rural America. The campaign, a diverse coalition of 32 national organizations, including RCAP, touching nearly every building block of the U.S. economy, released its legislative priorities to guide lawmakers as they begin work on writing the new Farm Bill.

EPA to provide technical assistance on sustainable growth and development

WASHINGTON (EPA) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has chosen eight communities to receive technical assistance on sustainable growth and development issues. The assistance will help local governments address infrastructure constraints, protect water quality, set development standards, and create options for housing and transportation.
