EPA webinar on recruiting and training veterans for careers in the water sector

On September 13, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. EDT, EPA will host a webinar for water and wastewater operator certification programs and state drinking water and wastewater programs on recruiting and training veterans for careers in the water sector. Topics include how Veterans Affairs programs can help veterans obtain operator certification and how states and utilities can employ veterans on a temporary basis at no cost.

On the radio on Thursday (June 30): Talk about water and wastewater operations professions

Residents of Boulder and Denver, Colo., can tune in to KGNU 88.5 FM or 1390 AM on Thursday, June 30 at 9:00 a.m. Mountain time for a 30-minute segment related to water and wastewater certification. Residents of other parts of the country can listen in live at www.kgnu.org.

Tribal drinking water operator certification program

EPA is announcing a voluntary Tribal Drinking Water Operator Certification Program, effective October 1, 2010. The program will enable qualified drinking water operators at public water systems in Indian country to be recognized as certified operators by EPA. This program will provide the benefits of certification to both the public water system operators and the Tribal communities they serve.
