Statement from Agriculture Secretary Vilsack on continuing his service in the Obama administration

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2013 (USDA) – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack made the following statement today regarding the announcement that he will continue his service in the Obama administration:

NY Times: The Problem Is Clear: The Water Is Filthy

The New York Times ran an article on Nov. 13 about Seville, Calif., a small town in a heavily agricultural section of the state that is suffering from contaminated drinking water.

The article talks about how dirty water affects people in many parts of their daily lives - at home, at school, in caring for themselves.

This is the type of community that RCAP assists - small, rural, often minority and often living below the poverty line.

Obama, Romney speak about rural America

As the presidential campaign reaches its climax heading toward Nov. 6, both major party candidates are out on the trail courting all types of voters and gathering as many supporters as they can get - both urban and rural.

In the last week or so, the campaigns have produced the resources below, which provide their views on rural America. While all of these resources focus heavily on agriculture, there is an occasional mention of infrastructure.
