EPA has released the first of three video public service announcements to raise awareness about the potential public health impacts of harmful algal blooms, which are a manifestation of nutrient pollution. The first video, "When in Doubt, Stay Out," talks about protecting human and pet health from potentially toxic algal blooms.

New York Times blog: Via YouTube, a New Conservation Genre

The New York Times Green blog, a blog "about energy and the environment," reports on Sept. 20:

"The drought of 2012, which continues to spread westward, is making its mark on the national consciousness in many ways. Rising food prices. Interrupted livelihoods. Fields of stunted, desiccated crops.

"All of this dryness has resonance in our video culture. Just go to YouTube and look at the proliferation of public service announcements on water conservation. Making one of these seems to be the school project du jour."

EPA releases video on simple environmental actions

The Environmental Protection Agency has released the "It's My Environment" video compilation. The EPA had challenged the public to show a simple environmental action in a short video, and it received nearly 100 entries. Watch how people of every age do their part to protect the environment, and then send the EPA your clip!
