Bloomberg: Tougher fracking regulations backed by 66%, poll shows

"Support for regulation of hydraulic fracturing has increased in the past three months, a sign that the gas-drilling practice is facing greater public scrutiny.

"A Bloomberg National Poll found that 66 percent of Americans want more government oversight of the process, known as fracking, in which water, chemicals and sand are shot underground to free gas trapped in rock. That’s an increase from 56 percent in a September poll. The poll found 18 percent favored less regulation, down from 29 percent three months ago."

Businesses see increased water risk but boardrooms slow to act

LONDON AND NEW YORK (CDP) -- There is a sharp rise in company reports of detrimental impacts from drought and other water-related issues yet little change in the number of companies with board-level oversight of water strategies and no increase in the number of corporations providing transparent water-related risk assessments to investors.

E&E Publishing: Oil and gas frackers now have to tell EPA where they are doing it

In an Oct. 9 article, E&E Publishing reported that "Oil and gas companies will soon have to start telling U.S. EPA before they 'frack' wells, a development that has caught many in the industry off-guard and rekindled some drillers' most potent fears about federal intrusion."
