Jeopardy! game on the Safe Drinking Water Act

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendlyEmail to friendEmail to friend

A fun review for a training session in the form of a game modeled after the "Jeopardy!" game show. All questions are on various aspects of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Ideal for use with a group at the end of training on drinking water treatment, requirements and regulations. Useful for board members and operators of drinking water systems, but also a good review for regulators.

The file is a PowerPoint show, meaning it is saved in such a way that it will automatically play in slide-show mode (will not open in editing mode) and cannot be edited.

It is highly recommended that this game is used with some advanced planning and set-up:

  • The trainer, who can play the role of the game-show host, should download the show before the training. He/she should review the entire file - that is, read all of the answers and questions beforehand. It is not possible in the electronic file for the host to also have the response to each answer before a contestant answers, so it might be easiest to have a print-out of the answers in the host's hand, separate from what is displayed on the screen to the audience and contestants (although a good trainer should probably know all of the answers anyway).
  • When you get to the gameboard slide, click on a dollar amount to reveal the answer for that category. The slide following the answer is the question (click on the answer slide to get to the next slide, the question slide), which the trainees should give to the trainer.  The “home” button on the bottom right side of all question slides will bring the presentation back to the game board.
  • To get the full effect of the game, the trainer should provide a response button or a bell for each contestant and establish a way of keeping score (such as with a scorekeeper who keeps scores on a white board or by having fake money handed to each player for each correct response). You can up the fun by forming teams or by giving prizes to the winners.
