The Housing Assistance Council [1] (HAC), an organization associated with RCAP, has two new publications to help make the case for the importance of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Section 502 direct and 523 programs, which are self-help housing programs that support minority home-ownership.
HAC is a national nonprofit organization that supports affordable housing efforts in rural areas of the United States. HAC provides technical housing services, seed money loans from a revolving fund, housing program and policy assistance, and research and
information services. HAC and RCAP held their national conferences together in 2010 because of the linkages between housing and water and wastewater services.
One of HAC's new publications is a special issue of Rural Voices magazine [2], featuring articles about the local impacts of these programs. The second is an information brief [3] describing how the programs support homeownership for minorities.
