EPA seeks nominations for its local government advisory committee

EPA invites nominations from a diverse range of qualified candidates to be considered for appointment to its local government advisory committee.  The committee is a federal advisory committee composed of locally elected and appointed officials that provides independent advice and recommendations to the EPA administrator concerning environmental issues affecting local governments and communities.

ProPublica: So, Is Dimock's Water Really Safe to Drink?

When the Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that tests showed the water is safe to drink in Dimock, Penn., a national hot spot for concerns about fracking, it seemed to vindicate the energy industry's insistence that drilling had not caused pollution in the area.

E&E Publishing: EPA looking for ways to 'manage or minimize' injection earthquakes

In a March 15 report on its EnergyWire, E&E Publishing reports that "a team from U.S. EPA is preparing recommendations for 'managing or minimizing' earthquakes triggered by oil and gas waste injection wells.

...EPA has not publicized its efforts on earthquakes -- the technical term is 'induced seismicity' -- but it has discussed efforts with state officials, researchers and interest groups."

This video, produced by GE, has great animation and gives facts about the availability and use of water resources on Earth.

About the Clean Water Act

The Clean Water Act is a water pollution-control measure, which was passed as the Federal Water Pollution Control Act in 1972. Born from a river of fire, the act has undergone many changes over the years and likely faces many more.
