Ongoing lead level’s exceeding the maximum contaminant level in the school’s non-community drinking water system.

Revisions and GIS locations of all sampling points and production facilities undertaken with WAPA personnel

Where: City of Socorro Water and Wastewater Utilities, Socorro, New Mexico

Problem: The Water and Wastewater Utilities has a limited budget. The utilities lacked technical skills to develop an asset management plan.

Solution: RCAC provided technical expertise to start asset inventory and mapping, inventory software, and developed recommendations for hardware, software, and staff training.

Hayti Heights, Pemiscot County, Missouri
 

Problem: Unable to provide safe, quality water and wastewater treatment in a small, very low-income community.


Solution:
Midwest Assistance Program helped the community with extensive board training and building technical, financial and managerial capacity.

Problem:
Culver’s system is too small, not built to adequately service the community’s growing population, and could pose a health risk to residents.

EPA seeks public comment on plan to review regulations

WASHINGTON (EPA) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is inviting the public to provide input on a plan that will guide EPA’s retrospective reviews of regulations as part of the agency’s response to President Obama’s Jan. 18, 2011, Executive Order (EO) 13563, “Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review.”

New Onsite Wastewater Systems Bring Iowa Town Into Compliance

Sandyville, Iowa
Problem:
Failing wastewater systems in the small, low-income community.
Solution:
Midwest Assistance Program (MAP) helped the community and county secure funding for new onsite wastewater systems, work out the details of funding, managing and maintaining the new systems.

New sewer system provides improved environment to local residents.

Where:
Greenacres County Water & Sewer District near Kalispell, Flathead County, Montana
Problem:
The Greenacres Water District has a failing water distribution system in the small, low-income water district.
Solution:
Midwest Assistance Program (MAP) helped the water district secure funding for new upgrades and continues to assist with operating, rate setting, managing and maintaining the utility.
